No, it's not discrimination when your church is closed down as a result of a health order. Discrimination is when because of the color of someone's skin they must sit in a less desirable seat on the bus, or someone is called a Jihadist because they wear the hijab, or when a political candidate and his base declare all Latin American individuals to be rapists and murders, or when a man that is simply taking a jog is gunned down by two men while others watch and do nothing and film it on their cell phones.
Discrimination is a big issue in the United States. No qualms from me there, but again, health orders closing down your church is NOT Discrimination. Discrimination happens every day in reality, and this cry wolf scenario is getting a bit old to say the least. Liberties are not being impeded upon, COVID-19 is not some Democratic Party conspiracy, because guess what, the rest of the world is also dealing with this Pandemic. A Pandemic is a global situation. The Democratic Party does not reach over into China, Italy, Spain, or the United Kingdom; it is simply a Pandemic reaching far and wide across the globe causing millions of people to fall ill and thousands of deaths. It's not a conspiracy. And like asking you to wear masks, asking people to socially distance themselves, is indeed not a conspiracy to take away your rights but to help you keep your damn life.
It seems that it is the right-wing Republicans that are all up in arms about the destruction of our Republic, and yet they are not concerned about the lack of supplies, but the problem of being asked to care about their communities and cover their face if they leave their house, which oddly enough also protects their immediate family. To me it is ridiculous, that the idea that listening to health professionals during a health emergency is considered "liberal," as if that is a bad word.
Jumping the gun and not fully thinking through the irksome issues of this Pandemic would truly help all of humanity. We have to work together to get through this with the least amount of deaths as possible. The lifting of certain policies doesn't mean the Pandemic is over, it just means that the hospitals are not overwhelmed, but be sure that there will be spikes, and people will get sick and die until a vaccine is found or it runs its course. The important part of this is the functionality of our hospital systems. If communities hospitals are not overwhelmed people will receive better care, something that was impossible to achieve in the hospitals in Italy where physicians were forced to triage the sickest and oldest and treat the young and healthy more aggressively because that was all their resources could afford. We don't want to be like Italy. We want to be smart and cautious. We only get through this together.
