Crudity and Savagery: We are Better than this America
What terrifies me is not the disgusting rhetoric of the far-right, that has been around for generations, and history leaves us quite numb to these kinds of people. However, it is the hatred and a complete disregard for other human beings that literally makes me sick. Personally, I know I have been sheltered most of my life to this level of hatred (e.g. white privilege), it never seemed to bubble to the surface as it has in the past. My entire adult life has been dedicated to the study of History. I love America, and I love what it stands for, but we have never been void of trauma, unrest or scandal. From Slavery to Native Americans, the Confederacy to Segregation, etc. As most of us know, learning about something and then seeing it is completely different. Witnessing a person use their automobile, an iconic symbol of America, to kill their opposition just because they disagree with them is barbaric, and there is no room in America for these people.
